PRIMA November PPP - Watercolor Leaves Card

Hi friends!!

It's time for the new monthly Prima PPP and BAP challenge!! I made a watercolor card as a PPP challenge sample. The color mood board features the new Creating In Faith collection, which is just beautiful!!!! As soon as I spot the beautiful autumn leaves on the mood board, I immediately knew I have to make some leaves on my own. I painted the watercolor leaves and then cut them out. I mainly used watercolor pencils and oil pastel for the leaves. The watercolor pencils are used for outlining and the oil pastels are used for coloring. As the watercolor pencils get wet, they will blend in with the oil pastel and get rid of that harsh outline.

Art Journal Page - Round and Around and Around - ArTsY MoNdAy

Hi friends!

It's Monday again, which means it's art journal time!! Today's page is grungy, distressed, and quite abstract. There are circles within circles on top of or connected to other circles... 

What's the background story behind it? It's meant to express the feeling things going into a never ending vicious cycle. They go round and around and around and around. The bad cycle eventually needs to be broken and start a good routine.

I painted the circles using golden high flow acrylic paint straight out of the bottle because I love the deep colors it has when it's not diluted. When you draw things using the bottle directly, you will find the shapes you are drawing have a free flowing look.  I hope you like this page and scroll down for tutorial & product list.

Art Journal Page - Watercolor Flower - ArTsY MoNdAy

It's Monday again! For today's ArTsY MoNdAy, I am sharing another art journal page. I never get tired of making art journals.

I have been doing lots of watercolor painting lately and I wanted a way to use the watercolor painting in my art journal page. First I was going to just paint with watercolor directly without sketching flower out first, but then I realized it's going to be hard to apply the acrylic background around it later on without an online to follow. That's why I sketched out the flowers first and painted the background around it. On this page, the flowers are the main focus. So the background is kept clean and simple. 

Because of the simplicity of the background, I drew a border around the page to frame it a little. I wish I had a little glitter pen that could add some shine to the black part of the border. That would look amazing! If you had the chance to do that, please let me know!!

Tip: To create the beautiful watercolor look, drop in different colors while it's wet.
